Is collagen facial treatment effective ?

Collagen treatment for the face is a very good kind of treatment to improve the skin and make it look suppler and young. In this treatment the molecules penetrate the skin and prevent it from aging, loss of elasticity and firmness. The treatment also helps to get an even color tone, oxygenate the skin, protects the natural skin collagen and enhances the moisture level.

What is collagen? It is a natural protein found in the bone, tendons, cartilage and skin. There are about 27 kinds of naturally occurring collagens in our body. The collagens found in our skin are required to maintain the strength and elasticity. On aging, the collagen breaks down and makes the skin look wrinkled and dull. In order to prevent the skin from loosing its texture, people turn to collagen treatment.

The following are the procedures involved in the collagen facial: The skin will be cleaned first with a light milky cleanser to remove the impurities, excess oil and makeup. The skin is now ready for exfoliation. The product used for exfoliation has gentle grains which will help to remove the dead cells making the skin smoother and helping cellular regeneration. After the exfoliation is complete, the face will be massaged with a highest concentration of collagen. This will be followed by a galvanic treatment  to let the product be absorbed into the skin. This will be topped by a mask or a cream to cover it.

People who mostly opt for the treatment belong to the age group of 35-60. They undergo this treatment to minimize the signs of aging like the mild frown and smile lines. Collagen is mostly used to make fuller lips, cheeks and also treat areas of the neck, back and chest. Collagen facial injections are more common these days and they are at times combined with laser skin resurfacing and face lift. Though considered safe, the collagen facial or treatment should be done by a qualified cosmetic surgeon. The procedure usually takes very little time, between 30-60 minutes and the patient can go home immediately.
