Vitiligo is skin condition in which the white spots occur on the skin and this skin condition has been there for very many years. The reason for the vitiligo to happen is because of the fact that melanocytes are not present in the skin on that area. For the uninitiated there are tow types of skin cells and these are the keratinocytes and the melanocytes. It is these melanocytes that give the skin its color. In the Vitiligo condition there are certain kinds of immune cells in the body which then start to attack the melanocytes and that in turn causes the skin cells to die and the skin loses its color.
There are a variety of treatments for vitiligo which are there and these treatments involve therapy as well as topical treatments.
It is recommended that patients with vitiligo take the Vitamin B multivitamin everyday. Apart from there are regimentation treatments and depigmentation treatments like the PUVA light treatment which can work well. Another very common one which is done is the Narrowband UVB. Another set of treatments are topical cortisone ointments. These can be used to treat some very light cases of vitiligo.
